Course objectives
The essence of the subject is to obtain basic theoretical and practical information about this discipline and about the education of people with movement disorders in society. Somatopedics is a field that deals with individuals with physical disabilities in childhood and adulthood, in various combinations and degrees. The subject includes not only the theoretical foundations of somatopedics, but also a description of typical and common physical disabilities, including an explanation of terminology and the orientation of a special educator in the education of children and students with physical disabilities, and specifically students with cerebral palsy.
Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes: Professional knowledge: - the student can talk about the development of society's views on individuals with somatic disabilities - the student knows the theoretical foundations and terminology of somatopedics - the student can characterize somatopedics as a scientific field - the student knows the ontogenetic development of a healthy child and can assess changes in the development of children's motor skills and movement - the student characterizes school maturity related to the physical development of children - the student can classify movement disorders according to causes and symptomatic signs - the student knows the characteristics of cerebral palsy, its peculiarities and specifics - the student can describe acquired physical disabilities and their peculiarities in the somatic and psychological aspects of a person - the student can define deformations, amputations, malformations - the student knows the laws and support for students with movement disorders in regular education and the inclusion of students with physical disabilities and health handicap Professional skills: - the student can characterize a child with cerebral palsy and the principles of working with this child at school - the student understands the concept of the structure of comprehensive rehabilitation care in the Czech Republic for individuals with physical disabilities - the student can discuss the education of children with somatic disabilities - the student lists and describes in a basic way compensatory and rehabilitation aids, especially for people with physical disabilities General competencies: - the student can assess the support and education of children, pupils and adults with physical disabilities within the broad spectrum of disorders and disabilities of special education - the student knows specific compensatory aids for people with physical disabilities - the student is familiar with partial special education procedures and strategies that are suitable for people with physical disabilities - the student specifies somatopedics as a partial part of special education and thus its specific interests and resources
Syllabus
Contents: 1. Special pedagogical discipline of somatopedy, its origin, possibilities, goals and essence, basic terminology Development of society's views on individuals with somatic limitations Ontogenesis of the child with a focus on motor skills, development of children's motor skills and momentum School maturity related to the physical development of children 2. Classification of movement disorders in somatopedy Etiology of physical disabilities, general symptoms. The most common combinations of physical disabilities Cerebral palsy. Characteristics of cerebral palsy, characteristics of a child with cerebral palsy Peculiarities and specifics of the development of a child with various types of cerebral palsy 3. Acquired physical disabilities after illness, after injury, after amputation Epilepsy and its somatic and psychological aspects Support and education of individuals with physical disabilities in the Czech Republic The system of education of children and pupils with physical disabilities
