Course objectives
Objectives: The course aims to connect the theoretical knowledge of students acquired in other subjects with their practical application within the framework of an individual approach to children and pupils with special educational needs. Furthermore, to introduce students to the issues of the practical life of children and pupils with special educational needs. The aim is a deeper understanding of the needs of these children and pupils, as well as knowledge of the interconnectedness of the family, school and health care systems. Students will discuss the presented case studies, then learn to write a case study themselves.
Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes: Professional knowledge: - the student knows the individual parts of the case report, is able to obtain the information necessary for compiling the case report, including taking a medical history, conducting an interview and analyzing available documentation - the student understands the importance of an individual approach to each individual, takes into account the current state of the individual, their needs, personality and other living conditions, understands the educational system - the student knows the individual areas of the child's life, and applies a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual approach when analyzing an individual case Professional skills: - the student is able to work with the client's case report, is able to conduct an interview and write a case report based on the information obtained, works sensitively with the personal data obtained - the student is able to use professional resources, their knowledge to set a plan for further development and apply this knowledge in practice in order to recommend specific techniques and methods of working with the child/pupil - the student performs basic differential diagnostics of a child with special educational needs, recommends appropriate re-education and development methods General competencies: - the student is able to navigate client case studies and obtain the necessary information from them, is able to supplement the case study with other available information (questionnaires, documentation, etc.) - the student is able to adequately connect his/her theoretical knowledge and use it in the context of an individual case - the student is able to cooperate with other professionals caring for the child/pupil, family members
Syllabus
Content: 1. Formal and content requirements of case studies, work with anamnesis Observation, conducting interviews, processing information from document analysis, questionnaires, etc. Case study of a child with delayed speech development, dyslalia gravis Case study of a child with developmental dysphasia in a regular kindergarten and in a speech therapy class in a kindergarten Case study of a pupil with developmental dysphasia in a regular elementary school and in a speech therapy class in a primary school Case study of a pupil with speech disfluency in a secondary school 2.Case study of a child with ADHD/ADD Case study of a pupil with mental disability Bullying Case study of a pupil with a cochlear implant in a regular elementary school and in a deaf-mute class in a primary school Case study of a child with hearing impairment in a regular kindergarten and in a deaf-mute class in a primary school Case study of a pupil with elective mutism
