- Course objectives
The aim of the course is to understand early intervention in the Czech Republic and abroad, with an emphasis on the functioning of the social service of early care in the Czech Republic, and on the student’s orientation in the valid legislation that defines the functioning of this service. Furthermore, the aim is to understand the possibilities of diagnostics and intervention procedures in early age, as well as the specifics of the family of a child with a disability and the specifics of a child with a disability in early age.
- Learning outcomes
Professional knowledge:
- The student explains the concept of early intervention and is familiar with its course in the Czech Republic and abroad;
- The student describes the specifics of a child with a disability in early age;
- The student knows the possibilities and specifics of special education diagnostics in early age;
- The student is oriented in the terminology related to early intervention
- The student knows the possibilities of intervention procedures in early intervention;

The student knows the specifics of the target group of early intervention.
Professional skills:- The student acquires methods of intervention procedures in early age, including their planning;
- The student is able to carry out special education diagnostics in early age;

- The student is able to implement special education educational, re-educational, and compensatory approaches for persons with disabilities in early age;

The student is prepared to cooperate with other professionals, not only in the field of special education, in order to support a young child with a disability and his/her family.

- 1. Early intervention in the Czech Republic and abroad.
2. The system of care for children with disabilities in early age in the Czech Republic – legislative framework.
3. Special education intervention, counseling, and methods of work.
4. Target group of early intervention – specifics of the family of a child with a disability, family typology and its reflection in early intervention.
5. Interdisciplinary concept of early intervention.
6. Possibilities of diagnostics in early age and their specifics.
7. Creation of an individual plan, individual planning.
8. A newborn with a disability – possibilities of special education intervention.
9. An infant with a disability – possibilities of special education intervention.
10. A toddler with a disability – possibilities of special education intervention.
11. A preschool child with a disability – possibilities of special education intervention.

The course can also be completed outside the examination period. - Teacher's information
Personal contact in teaching and consultation hours. During the course of study, the student uses study materials and completes selected correspondence assignments. At the same time, the student demonstrates knowledge of the required literature and lectures from contact teaching.
The student will be able to continuously consult individually studied course topics via e-mail, individual or group consultations. The course has a prepared e-learning course in the IS SU system and a team established in MS Teams, which also serve as additional tools for communication with the teacher and among students.
