Course objectives
To create theoretical and practical competencies for students to create a research project and to verify their theoretical knowledge in the field of special pedagogical methodology. The course Research Methodology equips students with the basic knowledge, skills and competencies needed to understand the basic context of social research.
Learning outcomes
Expertise:
- the student is familiar with the basics of methodology, especially in the terminology of subjects, research methods, techniques and possibilities of research processing
- The student explains the differences between quantitative and qualitative research
Professional skills:
- the student analyzes the research process in theoretical and practical contexts
- the student recognizes the suitability of using research strategies
- the student manages to apply the principles of operationalization of research goals.
- the student manages the creation and verification of hypotheses
General competences:
- the student is able to independently apply the principles of scientific methodology
- the student is able to independently formulate and present the achieved results, or to reflect them into their daily practice

Assessment methods
Elaboration of a bachelor thesis project. Written test, 70% of correct answers are required to pass the course.

The course can also be completed outside the examination period.
Teacher's information
In course of continuous study, students use the study material, processing it to fulfil selected correspondence assignments which will be discussed in conclusion of the course. At the exam, students demonstrate knowledge of compulsory literature and lectures of the in-person instruction. Students will be able to continuously consult the topics studied individually or in teams, via e-mail, or in consultations upon request.
