- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to support the student in the preparation of the diploma thesis and in the preparation for its defense as part of the final state examination.
- Learning outcomes
By completing the course, the student will acquire:
Professional knowledge:
- Knows the theoretical basis of the diploma thesis topic;
- Is able to describe the structure of the diploma thesis and its content;
- Knows the current format and template for writing final theses at FVP SLU;
- Is oriented in the topic and is able to analyze the theoretical foundations of the topic;
- Knows the criteria and research methodology;
- Is able to correctly prepare the methodological part of the empirical section;
- Is able to characterize the aims, methods, and research techniques.
Professional skills:- Is able to prepare the diploma thesis project independently;
- Is able to search professional literature on the chosen topic;
- Is able to conduct a literature review;
- Is able to analyze and compare theoretical foundations;
- Is able to develop research methodology;
- Is able to collect data and information for a specific research project and process them;
- Sees clear connections between the aims and outcomes of the diploma thesis.
General competencies:- Is able to express an independent opinion in the area of the chosen special education topic;
- Is able to adequately defend the established structure, procedure, and coherence of the thesis;
- Is capable of self-reflection and defending the thesis.
- Syllabus
The content of the diploma seminar consists of consultations between the supervisor and the student aimed at the preparation of the diploma thesis.
1. Processing of collected data and interpretation of the obtained results; evaluation and interpretation of research data.
2. Finalization of the working version of the theoretical part and completion of the theoretical section of the thesis. Completion of the practical part of the thesis, evaluation of the thesis objectives, and specification of the appendices.
3. Formulation of the main conclusions, drawing recommendations for practice, and possible discussion. Completion of the theoretical and practical parts, introduction, conclusion, and summary.
4. Consultation of final comments on the empirical part. Completion of the formal aspects of the thesis (stylistically, linguistically, and grammatically correct expression).
5.–6. Preparation for the defense, including adequate responses to expected questions and comments.- Literature

- Assessment methods
The student prepares the diploma thesis under the supervision of the thesis supervisor. Teaching takes place in the form of individual consultations according to an agreement with the thesis supervisor. The student continuously submits the text for review according to the assigned instructions and agreed deadlines in accordance with the general schedule. The thesis supervisor guides the student in studying professional literature and professionally leads the student step by step through the preparation of the theoretical part on the assigned topic, the research methodology, data analysis, and the conclusions of the diploma thesis on a topic relevant to the field.
