- Course objectives
- The course provides relatively united image of causes, forms and consequences of migration processes in European area and on the territory of former Czechoslovakia after the Second World War and in next temporal periods till present day. The students will acquire principal knowledge of phenomenon of migration in modern society in various historical, cultural and regional connections and at the same time also of approaches to solving the problems evocated by transports of numerous groups of people in "national" as well as international merit. The attention will be paid to the forms of forced migrations (escapes, expulsions, relocations and displaces), the questions regarding current tendencies of migration and asylum policy in individual European countries and within EU will be followed as well.

- 1. Migration as social-historical phenomenon and process: delimitation of principal concepts, typology of migrations, migration as a subject of social-scientific researches and analyses
2. - 3. Characteristics of the most important periods, areas and forms of European migrations from the half of the 19th century till the beginning of the Second World War
4. The Second World War and connected demonstrations of territorial mobility of population I (general frame)
5. The Second World War II (settlement policy of aggressors and occupants, repression. forced migration - deportation)
6. Migration trends in Europe after World War II (1945-1950), post-war organization, situation of national minorities
7. Settlement policy of Czechoslovak state (1945-1950), position of "different-national" population, way outs, course and consequences of various forms of migration
8. Causes, territories, types and impacts of migrations in European countries in the 50´s till the 70´s, peculiarities of "central-eastern" Europe
9. Economic, social, political and cultural aspects of territorial mobility of population in Europe in the 80´, work migration, phenomenon of refugees
10. Termination of "cold war", decline of communist regimes and migration in Europe in the 90´s(work migration, asylum seekers, refugees)
11. Migration in Czechoslovakia (the Czech republic) after 1989 I (general context)
12. Migration in Czechoslovakia (the Czech republic) after 1989 II (legal and illegal migration, asylum, free move of persons, immigration and integration of foreigners)
