Course objectives
The course is a profiling vocational theoretical and practical course that provides students with comprehensive knowledge of the care of women with pathologies before, during and after childbirth. The aim of the course is vocational training for midwifery practitioners. The course is part of the comprehensive module of obstetrics and midwifery.
Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes:Students know obstetric pathologies.
Professional Knowledge: Students can identify and characterize individual pathologies.
Professional Skills: Students can take care of a woman with a pathological pregnancy before and after childbirth.
General Qualification: Students are familiar with the whole range of pathologies during pregnancy, during childbirth and after childbirth.
Competences: Students are able to competently identify pathologies.
Syllabus
  • 1. Irregularities of pregnancy duration.
  • 2. Multiple pregnancy - birth of multiple children
  • 3. Dystocia of soft parts - irregular uterine contractions, cervical dystocia; irregularities of the birthing mechanism - irregularities of head position, anomalies of habitus, anomaly of positio.
  • 4. Irregular and pathological fetal position.
  • 5. Irregularities in the umbilical cord; irregularities in amniotic fluids and fetal caul, irregularities of the placenta, infections during childbirth
  • 6. Intrauterine asphyxia - distress of the fetus, including bleeding of the fetus; posthemorrhagic shock of the newborn, fetal death.
  • 7. Multiple pregnancy - birth of multiple children;
  • 8. Pathology of the fetus after birth - failure of separation of the placenta.
  • 9. Bleeding during separation; bleeding after complete evacuation of the uterus - coagulopathy hyperfibrinolysis.
  • 10. Inversion of the uterus, obstetric shock; maternal birth injuries.
