- The course does not presuppose specific prior knowledge of psychology. It is intended for students with a foundational orientation in the social sciences and humanities. Beneficial competencies include critical thinking, the ability to engage with scholarly texts, and a genuine interest in human behavior within professional and organizational contexts.

- Course objectives
- The course introduces students to the fundamentals of work and organizational psychology, a discipline focused on understanding individual and group behavior in the workplace. It explores key psychological dimensions of work activity, including the relationship between personality and job performance, the role of motivation, teamwork, and leadership. Further topics include employee selection, work environment, coping with stress, burnout prevention, and ethical considerations in professional settings. The course aims to equip students with both theoretical foundations and practically applicable knowledge relevant to careers in public administration, human resources, and social work.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to: • explain key concepts and principles of work and organizational psychology; • analyze the relationship between personality traits and job performance; • distinguish and apply various motivation theories in workplace settings; • propose strategies for employee selection and development, including the use of a competency model; • identify risk factors associated with burnout syndrome and suggest preventive measures.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures, interactive seminars, group work, case study discussions, guided self-reflection, individual assignments, test-based tasks, and work with scholarly texts.
- Assessment methods
- Throughout the teaching semester, students accumulate points that are subsequently taken into account during the oral examination. The point evaluation is based on active participation in innovative forms of instruction and on the results of a written test. If the student fails to meet the requirements for active participation or does not achieve the minimum number of points on the test (40), they will not be allowed to sit for the oral examination.
