- Course objectives
- The course introduces the student to the issue of social and legal protection of children and youth, its historical context and current world trends. The student must learn to observe SPOD issues in the context of the family and the broader social context of the family, diagnosing the problem. Know the different roles of the social worker in the performance of SPOD, his/her rights and duties. Another integral component is the skill of system analysis and transfer of information into case conferences, which are an essential tool in considering institutionalisatio
- Learning outcomes
- The student will know the legal definition of the problem, the working procedures of a social worker when working with an endangered child. Social worker as a supervising authority, guardian, confidant of the child. Furthermore, the student will be oriented: - the development of the concept of family and its changes - the importance of children's needs and their place in society - can use diagnostic approaches from the perspective of the family's life story - learns about the responsibilities of OSDPOD social workers - knows the duties and rights of social workers at different levels of social services and state administration

- 1. the importance of a happy childhood, family education, the origins of child protection and childhood into the modern era. 2. industrial revolution, enlightenment, child help and protection, first republic, communist era 3. law 359/1999Sb, §6 - assessment of a child at risk 4. current paradigms of social and legal protection of children and their impact on practice 5. change of the Czech paradigm and SPOD instruments 6. social worker OSPOD v role of control, guardianship, child trustee 7. guardian and divorce, protection of the rights of the child 8. the child and institutional education, the role of the social worker in the process 9. assessment of the PMV of the child and family, practical experience with enrolment 10. case conferences and related services for persons in need of care and caregivers 11. case conferences and legal correlations 12. methods of social work with families at risk
