Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic information about leisure time, the position of leisure time pedagogy in the system of pedagogical disciplines, the definition of basic terminology, leisure time in historical contexts, leisure facilities, professional organizations dedicated to fulfilling leisure time, anthropogenic factors in the field of leisure time, game methodology, etc.
Learning outcomes
The student will acquire the methodological foundations for developing a part of the primary prevention program for selected risky behavior, especially in elementary and secondary school environments.
Syllabus
  • 1. Pedagogy of leisure time - profile (content, distribution of terminology, methodology)
  • 2. Leisure time - definition, characteristics, semi-leisure time, bound time, semi-educational time
  • 3. Determinants of leisure-time behaviour - theory, models, factors. Possibilities of leisure-time intervention.
  • 4. Personality development of an individual in education during leisure-time activities (use of experiential education). Psychological aspects of leisure education.
  • 5. Extracurricular upbringing - functions, goals, dimensions, current concepts. Hobby activity.
  • 6. Methodology of game activities
  • 7. Game systems. Ensuring safety and health protection.
  • 8. Social environment of educational institutions - youth home, children’s foster homes, school group and school club
  • 9. Intentional and functional forms of education in selected leisure-time centres (youth home, low-threshold facility for children and youth)
  • 10. Leisure-time of seniors - definitions, characteristics, significance, methodology, preventive role, learning dividends
  • 11. Personality of the leisure-time pedagogue - typology, competences, risks associated with educational activities

Assessment methods
Written exam, based on successful completion of the test, from recommended professional literature. The condition for registration for the exam is fulfillment of the requirements for the seminar) (Meeting the requirements for the seminar: 1. attendance - mandatory participation - max. 2 absences excused, 2. presentation (the student can discuss the presented topic with others), 3. implementation of a game in the seminar, 4. active participation in the activities in the seminar according to the assignment. Students must actively participate in the discussed topics and activities, passivity in the seminars may be a reason for failing the seminar.)
