Course objectives
The aim of the course is to equip students with didactic competence to apply the principles of speech therapy prevention in the broadest sense (primary, secondary, tertiary). Attention will be paid to the application of forms and progressive methods and means of developing language and speech skills with an emphasis on intensive stimulation of specific skills and cognitive functions. The issue will be addressed from the perspective of applying a comprehensive approach to the development of language and speech skills, including the coordination of professional speech therapy care.
Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes: Professional knowledge: - the student defines the professional terminology and principles of speech therapy prevention - the student defines selected areas of speech therapy prevention - the student justifies the principles of a comprehensive approach to the development of language and speech skills in early and preschool age - the student is familiar with the structure of counseling services within the relevant departments Professional skills: - the student applies knowledge of supporting specific skills and cognitive functions - the student accepts symptoms of disability in the context of speech therapy prevention - the student implements a preventive stimulation program for the development of language and speech skills General competencies: - the student can stimulate the development of specific skills and cognitive functions with appropriate didactic means in order to support the speech and language of pupils in primary education - the student can independently formulate and present the achieved results, or reflect them in their everyday practice - the student can define tasks for professional activities, coordinate them and bear final responsibility for their results

Contents: 1. The importance of communication in the process of human socialization Communication competences in curriculum documents Speech therapy prevention in the preschool period Ontogenetic development of speech 2. Support for natural speech development in the preschool period Principles and principles of speech therapy prevention Specific skills and cognitive functions supporting speech development Areas of speech therapy prevention 3. The importance of play for speech development Didactic means of speech and language development Speech pattern as part of speech therapy prevention The most common speech disorders in preschool and younger school age Curriculum review
