Course objectives
On a theoretical level, the course aims to familiarize students with basic terminology (identity, culture, multiculturalism, social exclusion, genocide, migration, etc.) and the legislative framework (including historical examples of the suppression of the human rights of members of minorities). On a practical level, students are guided to understand and respect cultural diversity, thereby preparing them to work with individuals from different sociocultural groups.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to describe the mechanisms by which members of minority groups may be marginalized; understand minority identity as a sociocultural construct that affects every individual in society; reflect on their cultural attitudes and their implications for working with people in minority positions.
