Course objectives
The aim of the course is to focus on knowledge and skills in connection with current re-education and re-socialization pedagogy. The student will be involved in theoretical and practical pedagogical work with children and adults who may find themselves outside normal society, placed in resocialization and re-education facilities as well as out-of-school care institutions.
Learning outcomes
Expertise:
- the student demonstrates knowledge of basic terms and theoretical concepts related to key issues of reeducation and resocialization in the environment of the Czech Republic
- the student knows key legislative documents related to re-education and re-socialization work in the Czech Republic
- the student can analyze the related moral development of a person and its consequences for subsequent reeducation and resocialization care
- the student knows the connections that arise in the issue of institutional re-educational care for children and youth in the Czech Republic
- the student orients himself in the work of an etopedist and resocialization worker
- the student can characterize residential social services for adults, including shelters
Professional skills:
- the student can independently search for, critically evaluate and sort relevant facts from literary and other sources that relate to re-education and re-socialization pedagogy
- the student can classify topics in the etopedic or social field
- the student can assess the necessity and requirements for care of marginalized groups of the population, both in childhood and in adulthood
- the student can independently apply selected methods and techniques of re-education work with children with problematic behavior and behavioral disorders.
- the student can apply advice regarding basic information for re-education and resocialization care and pedagogy
General qualifications:
- the student can independently discuss the burning issues of contemporary society, which relate to the marginalization and restriction in a specific spirit of groups of children and adults
- the student practically knows re-education and resocialization care facilities for children, youth and adults and can compare them according to certain specifics
- the student can assess resocialization and reeducation care and its pitfalls

  • 3. Etopedia versus resocialization pedagogy, their definition, concepts and current view
  • 4. Moral development of a person and its impact on the quality of life in adulthood
  • 5. Risky periods of life and work with adolescents
  • 6. Re-education facilities in childhood and work with children with problematic and disordered behavior
  • 7. Resocialization and residential facilities for adults and work with people in social exclusion
  • 8. Excursion to a reeducation or resocialization facility
  • 9. Characteristics of selected risk phenomena – delinquency, aggressiveness, current addictions of children and adults
  • 10. Possibilities and limits of the resocialization pedagogue in the inclusive Czech education system
  • 11. Support measures related to children with problematic and risky behavior in regular school

Teaching methods
Verbal, clearly demonstrative, cooperative and group, problem-based, practical skills for preparation for completing the course.
Assessment methods

Preparation of seminar paper – submitted and positively evaluated seminar paper on the assigned topic. Active participation in an excursion to a reeducation or resocialization facility (facility for children or for adults according to the current possibilities of the given period).

Based on the evaluation of the presented project or seminar paper, credit will be awarded. The seminar paper will assess knowledge of basic terminology and orientation in sources from literature and lectures, knowledge based on participant observation in the facility or from studying the materials when preparing a seminar paper/project with the topic of possible pedagogical innovations in the chosen topic. Students on a study abroad stay will compare the topic in the seminar paper with practice in the country where they are participating in the study stay, the student will emphasize the differences in the approach to reeducation and resocialization between the country of study stay and the Czech Republic.
