Course objectives
The aim of the course is to strengthen the student's knowledge of grammatical phenomena in the English language and to strengthen the student's overall competence in the English language. Emphasis is placed on topics related to the field of study and students' ability to work with professional texts in English.
Learning outcomes
After comleting of the course, the student will be able to identify and summarize important features of the study of public administration and social policy in English. The student will be able to write a term paper or essay on a selected topic related to the field of study and be able to present it in English. The student will be able to work with foreign language professional texts in English.
Syllabus
1. Basic screening of initial language skills 2. Rules of professional language use, basic literature 3. Specificity of written expression in English 4. Professional CV 5. Formal letter: official letter, structure and form, linguistic devices 6. Social work: vocabulary, discussion, listening, working with text 7. Public administration: vocabulary, discussion, listening, work with text 8. Social exclusion: vocabulary, discussion, listening, work with text 9. Protection of children and young people: vocabulary, discussion, listening, work with text 10. Issues of minority groups: vocabulary, discussion, listening, work with text 11. Practical search for articles and research related to the chosen topic 12. Preparation of a presentation on the selected topic 13. Discussion on the selected topic

Assessment methods
In order to receive credit, the student will continuously fulfill the tasks set in seminars and consultations, submit a professional CV and a translation of a professional article to be discussed at the end of the semester.
