Course objectives
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with fundamentals of social care. The course is conceived as a theoretical subject. It enhances knowledge form organization and securing of social care, which is closely related to nursing care, above all in the primary and tertiary medical care. The contents are focused on a concept of social care, its elements and target groups in a community. It teaches students about the organizational scheme of social care and with applicable legal regulations.

  • 1. Social care, basic terminology . definition of social work.
    2. Social care.
    3. Individual and group social work.
    4. Social work in community.
    5. Social work concepts, development in the Czech Republic.
    6. Act Nr. 108/2006 Sb. on social services, as amended by later regulations.
    7. Specific social care facilities.
    8. Current possibilities of social care of specific categories of clients.
    9. Position of a social worker, a nurse and other helping professions in care of clients.

Teacher's information
Attendance in a minimum of 80 per cent of seminars is required for completion. Students who could not attend a number of lessons for serious reasons will be assigned extra tasks.

A plea for a seminar essay and its analysis.
