- Course objectives
- The course goal consists in familiarizing the students with principles of palliative and hospice care, as well as with the issue of dying and death. The course describes classification of patients, indications for care, issue of dying and death, most frequent problems in caring for this specific group of patients. After passing the course, the student will be well versed both in theoretical and in practical aspects of care for terminally ill and dying patients.

- 1. Palliative care, its characteristics, target group, forms of provision.
2. Hospice care, its characteristics, target group, forms of provision.
3. HR management in provision of palliative / hospice care. Prevention of burnout syndrome.
4. Dying and death. Ethical aspects of provision of nursing care to dying persons.
5. Needs of dying persons and their families, spiritual care.
6. Assessment of symptoms in palliative care.
7. Pain management.
8. Palliative care for children.
