- Course objectives
- Traditionally, the offer of educational activities for seniors is dominated by humanist-oriented programmes over technically and economically oriented ones. With the development of information technology and the necessity to be aware of it, it is desirable to focus the interest of seniors in this direction. The aim of the course is to teach students how to build a curriculum of various courses for the elderly, to avoid the most common mistakes that are common to existing courses and learn to motivate the elderly to use ICT and the Internet in everyday life. Special attention will be paid to the use of a smartphones with mobile data, the use of computers in everyday life situations, on-line communication and social networks. At the same time, the risks and difficulties arising from working with the Internet will be emphasized.
- Syllabus
- 1. Functional literacy as the ability to actively participate in the world of information. Technological, computing and information literacy. Digital literacy strategy of the Czech Republic for the period 2015-2020. E-inclusion.
- 2. Benefits of media technologies for the elderly. ICT fitness index of seniors.
- 3. Basic principles of preparation of course curricula. Applying didactic methods, forms and principles.
- 4. Preparation of a course curriculum focused on the use of computers and the Internet for communication (set-up of an e-mail account and work with e-mails, phoning using the computer, sending SMS using SMS gateways, Internet communication specifics: emoticons, Internet etiquette, etc.).
- 5. Preparation of a course curriculum focused on the possibilities of social networks (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, ICQ). Practical skills training related to the course.
- 6. Preparation of course curriculum focused on the use of a smartphone with mobile data. Practical skills training related to the course.
- 7. Preparation of a course curriculum focused on the use of computers in everyday life situations (search public transport timetables, weather reports, contacts of medical doctors, prescriptions, television programmes, e-shops, news from home and abroad). Practical skills training related to the course.
- 8. Preparation of a course curriculum focused on searching maps and geolocation, using navigation for travelling. Practical skills training related to the course.
- 9. Preparation of a course curriculum focused on interests and hobbies (puzzles, games on-line, cultural programmes, film database, using Netflix, watching films, discussions, searching youtube, online training courses). Practical skills training related to the course.
- 10. Preparation of a course curriculum focused on how to protect information and behave safely on the Internet. Computer virus. Practical skills training related to the course.
- 11. Preparation of a course curriculum focused on Internet banking, electronic statements. Practical skills training related to the course.
- 12. Preparation of a course curriculum focused on working with e-books (buying books, download, storing, use). Orientation in a library catalogue. Searching book titles, news. Practical skills training related to the course.
