Course objectives
The course aims to introduce students to the multi-paradigmatic nature of sociology. What is Sociology? What is Society? Selected topics of sociology will be explained, eg the process of socialization, social groups and formal organizations, family and marriage, social structure of society and social interaction, culture and subcultures, social control. Students will acquire a basic overview of the development of sociological theories.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to explain what sociology is and evaluate its significance for society; compare different sociological paradigms; describe the process of socialization in relation to basic sociological concepts.
