- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide information from the fields of general psychology and personality psychology. These are essential for all helping professions and concern working with people and understanding topics such as personality structure, information processing, cognitive aspects of personality, motivation and others.
- Learning outcomes
- Professional knowledge: - the student can characterize basic terms related to general psychology - the student can define the terminological apparatus of personality psychology - the student is familiar with cognitive, sensory, motivational processes - the student can briefly assess and evaluate various information about the structure of personality - the student is familiar with current basic psychological professional literature of domestic and partly foreign origin - the student knows the essence of key topics in psychological contexts both on theoretical and historical grounds - Professional skills: - the student can use knowledge of general psychology and personality psychology in the field of professional - special education - the student analyzes the structure of a person's personality - the student can use and apply knowledge of general psychology General competencies: - the student is familiar with the modification of various psychological work, knows the essence of individual psychological disciplines - the student can apply knowledge from the field of personality psychology to preparation for working with people with disabilities

- Content: 1. Definition of the subject and goals of psychology, basic methods of psychology. Basic theoretical directions in psychology. Basic concepts of general psychology - psyche, consciousness and unconsciousness 2. Attention, properties of attention, controlled and automatic information processing, sleep 3. Sensory processes - characteristics of sensory organs, types of receptors, stimulus thresholds 4. Perception - organization of the perceptual field, spatial vision, perception of movement 5. Memory - types of memory, memory models, memory processes, forgetting 6. Ideas, types of ideas, functions of ideas, ideas in cognitive approaches 7. Thinking - types of thinking, decision-making, problem solving, intelligence, creativity, thinking and speech. Learning - types of learning, classical and instrumental conditioning, social learning. Intelligence 8. Personality psychology, subject of study, theoretical approaches to the study of personality. Personality structure 9. Activation-motivational characteristics of personality. Motivation – concept and principles of motivation, components of motivation, motives and their types 10. Temperament and character, human values 11. Emotions – concept, components of emotions, manifestations of emotions, subjective experience of emotions, functions of emotions. Emotional intelligence 12. Personality typology with a focus on the application of the current typology Theory of types
