- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to gain basic knowledge regarding the issues of people with hearing impairments and to describe the communication systems of people with hearing impairments in the Czech Republic, which will lead to better orientation in the culture of the Deaf. Furthermore, to become familiar with basic terminology, legislative measures and to explain the significant differences in the communication needs of people with hearing impairments. Direct communication in Czech sign language is part of the teaching. The student will master basic hand positions, learn individual signs, and gradually develop his own sign language.
- Learning outcomes
- Learning outcomes: Professional knowledge: - the student is familiar with the issues of people with hearing impairments - the student knows the theoretical connections between the theme of communication systems of people with hearing impairments - the student understands basic terminology and legislative measures - the student is familiar with the main differences and needs of people with hearing impairments Professional skills: - the student is able to use basic hand positions within individual signs of everyday life - the student is able to use signs of the recommended sign stock - the student is able to use classifiers and specific signs - the student is able to reflect and use the work of the whole body, connected visually by motor means of communication General competencies: - the student is able to communicate independently within the given sign stock - the student is able to apply the sign stock to everyday communication, conversation and narration

- Contents: 1. The importance of auditory perception 2. People with hearing impairments. Cultural and linguistic minority of the Deaf 3. Classification of hearing impairments according to the degree of hearing impairment 4. Prelingually and postlingually acquired hearing impairments 5. Dual vision and hearing impairments 6. Specifics and principles of communication by people with hearing impairments 7. Czech sign language 8. Signed Czech. Finger alphabet (dactyl) 9. Visualization of spoken Czech. Written record of spoken Czech 10. Sign vs. spoken languages. Gesture vs. sign 11. Classification of signs of Czech sign language 12. Social services for people with hearing impairments
