- Course objectives
- The Wellbeing course helps students better understand themselves and strengthen their own resilience. Students will become familiar with the basics of health psychology and wellbeing. They will practice techniques of psycho-hygiene, work with emotions and the body, and ways to cope with stress. The course promotes self-awareness and shows how to apply it in preventing burnout and in everyday professional practice.
- Learning outcomes
- Professional knowledge - after completing the subject, the student demonstrates knowledge:- recognizes basic concepts in the biopsychosocial-spiritual approach to human health- analyzes individual supportive factors- detects the critical amount of stressors for a given individualProfessional skills - after completing the subject, the student demonstrates skills:- actively masters positive techniques of psychosomatic influence- does not engage in destructive mechanisms towards their own health based on knowledge- is able to create a plan to support a healthy lifestyle.
- Syllabus
- 1) Helping professions and the role of the helping worker – motivation to help, risks, self-reflection of strengths and weaknesses; – mapping personal needs. 2) Load and stress – physiology of stress, difference between acute and chronic stress; – working with physical signs of stress, breathing diagnosis. 3) Crisis and trauma – psychological and physical dimension, possibilities of first aid in stress and crisis; – practicing 'grounding' techniques. 4) Significant stressors of the present – digital load, economic pressures, environmental anxiety, and quality of life; – reflection on quality of life with physical expression, awareness of values. 5) Physical manifestations of stress and trauma – in children and adults; working with personal resources to overcome difficulties; – working with body memory (movement, visualization, drawing). 6) Working with the body in helping professions – possibilities and limits, ethical dimension, risks of alternative approaches; – exercise 'body boundaries'. 7) Psychosomatics I - body communication - the body as a source of information, nonverbal communication, experiential exercises; - exercise "emotional map of the body". 8) Psychosomatics II - civilization diseases - the relationship between lifestyle, stress, and chronic illnesses; - breathing exercises, relaxation focusing on somatic release. 9) Coping strategies I - theories of coping approaches, the difference between adaptive and maladaptive; - Body schemas - motor fields 1. 10) Coping strategies II - practice - personal coping profile, working with specific situations, resilience; - Body schemas - motor fields 2. 11) Burnout syndrome and its prevention - stages of burnout, prevention at personal and organizational levels, self-care; - Preparation of a wellbeing journal. 12) Relaxation and psychohygiene in practice - relaxation methods, mindfulness, daily psychohygiene techniques; - combined training - progressive relaxation, conscious movement, working with voice, etc.

- - Given that the subject is taught in an experiential manner, attendance is required. 2 absences are permitted. - Written processing of the topic: Individual 'Wellbeing Plan' including identification of stressors that the student is exposed to and a description of individual strategies for coping.
