Course objectives
The aim of the course is to strengthen the student's knowledge of grammatical phenomena in the English language and to strengthen the student's overall competence in the English language. Emphasis is placed on topics related to the field of study and students' ability to work with professional texts in English.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, the student will be able to identify and summarize important features of the study of public administration and social policy in English. The student will be able to work independently with texts in English and will be able to present selected topics in English. The student will be able to work with foreign language scientific texts in English.

1. Introduction.Recap of terminology of nationalities, public administration and law. 2. Social security.Social care in the Czech Republic and Europe.Social care facilities. 3. Unemployment, labour policy.Labour market.Basic and expanding economic terminology.Budgets, grants, public finance. 4. Translatological practice 4 - technical text of intermediate difficulty (social care, unemployment). 5. Healthcare in the Czech Republic and Europe.Basic facts and terminology. 6. Healthcare facilities.Health and disease. 7. Translatological practice 5 - technical text of intermediate difficulty (healthcare). 8. Basic sociological and psychological terminology 1 9. Basic sociological and psychological terminology 2 10. Discussion on the area of sociological and psychological issues.Translatological practice 6 - technical text of higher difficulty (social psychology). 11. Educational policy.Education in international comparison.Discussion on education and the schooling system. 12. Revisions, summary.
