- Course objectives
- The course introduces basic concepts to define, divide and measure competitiveness in contemporary economy. The objective of the subject is to inform about micro, mezzo and macroeconomic accesses toward competitiveness, mainly towards it evaluation. Simultaneously offers possibility to identify sources and barriers of growth of competitiveness and searching for competitive advantage.

- 1. How to competitiveness? Approaches to definition of competitiveness.
2. Inspiration in historic streams of economic thinking.
3. Competitiveness of firm - microeconomic aspects of competitiveness, readiness of firm to succeed in market from long term view.
4. Regional competitiveness - region as a subject of market, evaluation of competitive potential of regions and comparison of regions.
5. Competitiveness of towns and villages.
6. Determinants of national competitiveness in scale of economic policy and pillars of national competitiveness.
7. Measuring and evaluating of competitiveness in content of in scale of international organizations (WEF, IMD, WB).
8. Competitiveness and Europe Strategy 2020.
9. Innovative policy as a factor of competitiveness, tools of innovative policy, evaluating of innovations and social innovations.
10. Indicators of competitiveness of human capital.
11. Competitiveness and permanently sustainable development.
12. Competitiveness of the Czech Republic and factors which influence its growth or decline.
13. Research in competitiveness area, possible scripts of research, case studies, methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis usable by research. Alternative conception of competitiveness.
