Course objectives
The goal of the subject is to deepen the knowledge of general English and to introduce Professional English in common situations in professional environment to enable students to be ready for successful entering international labour market. All language skills are developed - speaking, reading, listening, and writing, with the emphasis to speaking.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course students will be able to use vocabulary needed for economics, banks and money, market, marketing, employment/unemployment, to specify terms of macroeconomics and microeconomics, to describe current trends, to explain the organizational structure of the CNB and its role, to name some types of money, market principles, to specify marketing mix, market research, to clarify the main features of employment and unemployment in the CR.

The Czech National Bank and its functions. Legal status. Organizational structure. Bank activities and operations. Bank products.
3. Money
Types of money. Terms related to money. Interest rate. Trends. Financial markets.
4. Market
What is market? Market elements ? demand, supply, price. Functions of a market. Competition. Costs.
5. Marketing
What is marketing? Marketing mix. Marketing plan and strategies. International marketing.
6. Employment
Inflation and employment. Work and employment. Jobs and terms related to jobs. Working time. Remuneration. Job benefits.
7. Unemployment
Types and causes. Unemployment rate. Unemployment benefits. Unemployment and inflation.
