Course objectives
Students acquire basic knowledge and skills of the topography and satellite navigation. They will acquire basic concepts and topographic work map and preparation of maps. In the GPS receive theoretical information and practical experience with the technology, focusing on the crisis situations.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic concepts.
    2. General types of cartographic mapping.
    3. Maps ? typology and terminology.
    4. Terminology mapping.
    5. Map series designation.
    6. Territorial administrative and technical units.
    7. Box score.
    8. Coordinate systems in the Czech republic.
    9. Height systems in the Czech republic.
    10. Map content.
    11. Basic terrain shape and method of display.
    12. Working with the map.
    13. Work with a map in the field.
    14. Fundamental theoretical and practical introduction to GPS navigation.
    15. Positioning and its accuracy, route record, digital map.
    16. Communication PC-GPS, check the acquired knowledge in the field and practical verification of theoretical assumptions in different types of terrain, practical navigation for the selected item, use of paper maps and GPS devices to compare with a paper map.
