Bonita obce je pojem, který není jednoznačně stanovený a jeho definice a uchopení je řešeno víceméně na národní úrovni v České republice a na Slovensku, v zahraniční literatuře synonymum tohoto pojmu neexistuje. Proto se často bonita zaměňuje s ratingem, finančním zdravím, nebo platební schopností. Smyslem pojetí bonity však není pouhá schopnost splácet dluh, ale také hospodaření s majetkem obce, či podmínky jejího rozvoje. Cílem této kapitoly je seznámit čtenáře nejen se samotným pojmem bonita, ale také s jejím podrobnějším členěním, rozdělením na bonity dílčí, metodami určování bonity a v neposlední řadě také s ukazateli, kterými se různé typy bonit mohou měřit.

The municipality's creditworthiness is a term that is not unambiguously defined and its definition and grasping is dealt with more or less at the national level in the Czech Republic and Slovakia; in foreign literature there is no synonym of this term. Therefore, creditworthiness is often confused with rating, financial health, or solvency. However, the concept of creditworthiness is not merely the ability to repay the debt, but also the management of the property of the municipality or the conditions for its development. The aim of this chapter is to acquaint the reader not only with the concept of creditworthiness, but also with its more detailed breakdown, its subdivision, methods of determining creditworthiness and, last but not least, with indicators used to measure different types of creditworthiness.
