The objectives of this work is to provide acces to the documents of Duke John Corvinus, the illegitimate son of Hungarian and Bohemian King Matthias, which relate to his rule of the Duchy of Opava. The edited set of documents numbers 29, of which only some were preserved in their original form. Others however exist in copies of varying age or in the form of mentions in the documents of other publishers. The relatively complicated circumstances of the preservation of these documents has thus forced the application of multiple modifications to the rules of transcription. The edited set of documents has included all the known documents (preserved in extenso or at least in the form of extracts and mentions) of John Corvinus and his officials (provincial governors) related to the Hunyadi rule in the Opava region. It must be pointed out that the „Opava“ documents of John Corvinus represent but a fraction of the respectable number of written materials produced in the office active at his court. Thus it was necessary to abandon the notion of analysing the operaion and production of John Corvinus ´s office, as this would far exceed the scope and defined topic of the presented study.
