Abstract
The main required parameter of digital restoration is keeping the fidelity and authenticity of the original appearance of the restored film as it was presented at its premiere screening. In the Czech Republic the Methodics of Digitizing of the National Film Fund were developed and internationally certified using the Digitally Restored Authorizate DRA method. The new profession of Digital restorer requires the expertise of a universityeducated restorer or someone with longterm experience. This article describes problems with maintaining fidelity and authenticity in black and white films while using the DRA method when distributers rejected results of restorer. The experience demonstrates the need for further cooperation between archivists, film historians and authors for correct presentation of black and white films which have been digitally restored.
