Der Erlkönig: eine mythische Figur, die unzählige Künstler inspiriert hat. Bei Komponisten, Malern, Dramatiker, und sogar in der Filmindustrie hat vor allem Goethes Ballade eine Welle von verschiedenartigen Adaptationen ausgelöst. Diese Studie beschäftigt sich mit der Ballade ‚Erlkönig‘ von Johann Wolfgang Goethe und mit dem Roman ‚Der Erlkönig‘ von Michel Tournier. Inwiefern hat sich Tournier bei Goethe inspiriert? Welche Themen und Motive haben diese zwei Juwelen der europäischen Literatur gemeinsam? Diese Fragen sollte der vorliegende Text beantworten.

The Erlking: a mythical figure that has inspired countless artists. For composers, painters, playwrights and even in the film industry, Goethe's ballad in particular has triggered a wave of various adaptations. This study looks at the ballad 'Erlkönig' by Johann Wolfgang Goethe and the novel 'Der Erlkönig' by Michel Tournier. To what extent was Tournier inspired by Goethe? What themes and motifs do these two jewels of European literature have in common? This text should answer these questions.
