Abstract
V originále
Effective communication is crucial for individuals to communicate and engage with their social environments. This study examines the effects of linguistic evolution, particularly the emergence of generationally distinct lexical innovations, on intergenerational discourse. The proliferation of novel slang and idiomatic expressions used among Millennials, Generation Z, and Generation Alpha presents opportunities for linguistic enrichment and challenges mutual comprehension. Digital platforms such as Instagram and TikTok are central in accelerating these changes, contributing to potential communicative disparities across age groups. Through a corpus-based analysis using the News on the Web (NOW), this research investigates diachronic patterns in the adoption and contextual application of emerging lexical items and their frequency of use over the years. The findings highlight the necessity of fostering linguistic adaptability and cross-generational awareness to mitigate communication barriers and promote more effective discourse in contemporary society.
