Studie přináší edici rukopisné autobiografie Johanna Antona Pohla (1726–po 1802), předsta-veného Generální daňové účtárny v Opavě. Text Wahrhafte Lebens-Geschichte eines Un-genannten von ihm selbst beschrieben pochází z někdejší zámecké knihovny ve Štáblovicích a představuje cenný ego-dokument pozdně osvícenské epochy. Autobiografie zachycuje profesní dráhu úředníka habsburského Slezska a současně odráží jeho sebestylizační snahu uchovat vlastní obraz a paměť. Studie analyzuje rukopis z hlediska sociální mobility, mentality a kariér-ních strategií středostavovské byrokracie a zároveň definuje ediční postupy včetně využití mo-derní OCR technologie při přepisu německého novogotického písma.

The study presents an edition of the manuscript autobiography of Johann Anton Pohl (1726–after 1802), head of the General Tax Accounting Office in Opava. The text Wahrhafte Lebens-Geschichte eines Un-genannten von ihm selbst beschrieben originates from the former castle library in Štáblovice and represents a valuable ego-document of the late Enlightenment period. The autobiography traces the professional career of an official in Habsburg Silesia while simultaneously reflecting his self-fashioning efforts to preserve his own image and memory. The study analyses the manuscript with regard to social mobility, mentality, and career strategies of the middle-class bureaucracy, and at the same time defines the editorial procedures, including the use of modern OCR technology in the transcription of German Neo-Gothic (Fraktur) script.
