- Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the functioning of museum and gallery institutions with a focus on photography and photographic collections. The course combines theoretical knowledge of modern collecting, institutional collection management, and curatorial activities with the practical skills necessary for working in a museum or gallery—from acquisition and record-keeping to collection care, presentation, and communication with the public.
- Learning outcomes

Understand the structure and function of museums and galleries, particularly in the field of photographic collections.

Describe and analyze the processes of building, cataloguing, and managing photographic collections.

Apply basic museum standards and methodologies in the care and handling of photographic works.

Design and prepare a small curatorial project (exhibition or display), including accompanying texts and public activities.

Distinguish between the role of a collection curator and an exhibition curator.

Produce professional and promotional texts related to the presentation of photographic collections.

Reflect on the relationship between public and private collecting and recognize ethical and market issues related to collecting photography.

Collaborate effectively within a team on exhibition and collection projects.
