This preparatory work is a necessary prerequisite for a successful translation. The aim of this course is to acquaint the students with the theoretical principles on which the model of translation-oriented text analysis is based. The course introduces several concepts of translation theory, and describes the role and scope of source text analysis in the translation process. The students will be presented with a detailed overview of extratextual and intratextual factors and their interaction in the text.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students will be able to define the basic characteristics of the text from the perspective of translation practice and will know the theoretical framework for working with the text from the perspective of the translator. They will be able to analyze the translated text, apply the basic concepts of translation theory in this analysis and use relevant secondary sources.
