- Course objectives
- The aim of this course is to introduce software tools designed to assist translators with translation of texts. In individual units, students will learn basic facts about various tools and through practical examples learn how to use some of them. Students shall be required to work on their own project portfolio that will be assessed towards the end of semester. After passing this course students will be able speed up translation process and produce higher quality output. students will be divided into groups of 2 or 3 people. During this course, students should acquire necessary theoretical knowledge and practical experience of working with certain software tools, designed to help translators with their job.

- Students will acquire the following skills: - work with translation memory (TM) tools / workbenches - produce translations of high consistency

- 1. Introducing CAT Tools 2. Translation Memory 3. Text Alignment 4. Terminology Management Tools 5. OmegaT and OmegaT+ 6. Memsource and SDL Trados 7. Memsource Workbenches 8. Handling Tags and Terms while Translating 9. Terminology Recognition and Extraction 10. Maintaining your TMs and Other Resources 11. Managing Translation Projects 12. Support Tools for Translators 13. Final discussion and presentations.
