Course objectives
The aim of the course is to further develop students' awareness of the specifics and differences of English-speaking cultural groups. The course aims to prepare students to engage in debates about various cultural products of the English-speaking sphere.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to discuss various topics in the field of Anglophone cultures.

  • 3. Multicultural Britain
  • 4. Wales and Scotland - geography and people
  • 5. Ireland - transformation and identity
  • 6. United States - Melting Pot Vs. Salad Bowl, the American Dream, individualism and independence
  • 7. Indian Studies
  • 8. Canada - geography, cultural mosaic
  • 9. Australia - Australian languages, "stolen generations", National Sorry Day
  • 10. New Zealand - European settlement, Kiwi, Maori
  • 11. India - the legacy of the empire
  • 12. Cultural studies and orientalism
