Course objectives
The cycle of lectures and seminars is dedicated to an overview of Italian literature from the 13th to the 18th century. The lectures aim to characterize a period from a literary, historical and social point of view and to present the main authors of the period. The seminars focus on an analysis of a series of texts.
Learning outcomes
The students have a general knowledge of the main trends of the Italian literature from the 13th to the 18th century, they can place the most important Italian authors and their works in the literary and historical context, thay can subject a literary text to a formal and content analysis.

Dante Alighieri e la “Divina commedia” 4. I classici del Trecento: Francesco Petrarca 5. I classici del Trecento: Giovanni Boccaccio 6. Il Quattrocento e l’umanesimo: la nascita delle Accademie, la corte di Lorenzo de’ Medici 7. Il primo Cinquecento e il classicismo rinascimentale 8. Il secondo Cinquecento e il manierismo, Torquato Tasso 9. Il Seicento e il barocco 10. Il primo Settecento: il periodo dell’Arcadia e Carlo Goldoni 11.
