Course objectives
Within the course, students will acquire a set of knowledge and skills in the field of legislation and law, which apply to the field of working with information - handling of copyrighted works, licensing options (Copyright, Creative Commons, Copyleft, Public Domain and others), work with personal data, etc. The content of the course is based on valid and current legislation in the Czech Republic and the European Union. The aim of the course is to pass on and explain to students important legislative aspects and to teach them to orient themselves in them when working with information (eg creating or managing information systems), which they will use in their work.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- familiarize with the valid legislation,
- apply this knowledge when working with information,
- Incorporate valid legislation into created projects
Syllabus
  • 1. Information legislation - basic characteristics, division, overview of legislation valid in the Czech Republic and the European Union.
  • 2. Copyright protection - protection of intellectual property, copyright law, problems and ambiguities in copyright, license for a work.
  • 3. Protection of personal data - the law on personal data protection, GDPR and impacts on working with information.
  • 4. Industrial protection - law on measures for the protection of industrial property, possibilities of protection of inventions (patents, industrial and utility models, trademarks and others), use in informatics.
  • 5. Other legislative aspects - Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms, free access to information, informatization of state administration and more.
