Course objectives
The aim of the course is to supplement students' knowledge with current themes from information technology and IS/IT management. Students are acquainted with principles of project management of IS development and management of IS/IT operations in the company (IT services management according to the ITIL concept). The acquired knowledge will be applied by the graduates in the informatics professions: project manager of IS development, head of the IS/IT department in the company on various level of management, IS/IT security manager, etc. Exercises are focused on deepening of knowledge, current trends, current events in IS.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will have knowledge and an overview of the areas of IS/IT management, about the company and its management components, what a project manager, security manager, manager, etc. does. They will get to know current trends in IS/IT.
Syllabus
  • 1. IS/IT project management, basic concepts.
  • 2. Project organization and planning.
  • 3. Project implementation; scope, time and cost management.
  • 4. Project documentation and methodology.
  • 5. Management of IS/IT operations in a company, basic concepts.
  • 6. IT service management, according to ITIL concept.

Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation, project work, exercises.
Assessment methods
75% attendance in the exercises. Seminar work, discussion on the seminar work. Written exam.
