Course objectives
The student will get a basic knowledge of computer peripheral devices and their connecting to a PC including installation and operation.
Syllabus
  • 1. Interfaces of computer peripherals: RS232, paralelní port, FireWire (IEEE 1394), SCSI,
    USB, PCMCIA, Bluetooth.
    2. Connectors and cables.
    3. Printers: principles and printing technology, expenses, consumer material, printer
    install, configuration of network ports.
    4. Scanners: used techology, scanner's types, installing, twain moduls, scanning's theory,
    specialized software Silverfast.
    5. CD, DVD, Blu-ray mechanics: formats CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+, DVD-, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, Blu-ray,
    technology and principles of burning, used materials for CD, DVD, Blu-ray, device install.
    6. Digital camcorders and cameras, webcams: technology, specifications of camcorders and
    cameras, memory cards and readers, types of picture and video files, compression, data-
    banks, connection to PC and TV, RAW format's conversion.
    7. CRT and LCD monitors of various technology, dataprojectors - technology, characteristics
    of monitors and dataprojectors, connection to PC using D-SUB, DVI, BNC, HDMI, DisplayPort,
    the proper graphic regime's settings.
    8. Modems and faxes: technology, transfer protocols.
    9. External disks and memory devices and theirs connection to PC, NAS.
    10. TV cards.
