- Course objectives
- Lectures and seminars examines the relationship between technology and its reflection of contemporary society. Emphasis is placed on the transformation of paradigmatic adoption of technical improvements and inventions oscillating between fascination and strict rejection. In addition to technical innovation is part of the lectures given to the role of technology in shaping modern mass culture, initial efforts to capture and reproduce motion from 17 century (Laterna Magica, strobe ad.) and in particular technological developments in the 19th century, which led to the invention of cinema. In addition, partial technical innovation will be acquainted with the gradual development of film production and projection to 20 20th century, including social, economic and cultural impacts. The course will preview screenings of selected early works of Czech and world cinema.
