Course objectives
The aim of the lecture is a general presentation of the Federal Republic of Germany in the context of Europe (EU) and the global world. Specific subjects are the German culture, geography and certain important aspects of it. The course also introduces the life in the former German Democratic Republic. Further subjects are the political life in contemporary Germany, the social life, migration, agriculture, economy, the political system and parties, the school system, culture in general, and media. The seminar concentrates on toda`s social life in its most important aspects and introduces the characteristics of the sixteen German Federal Lands. Students will work with authentic material from Germany, and with modern media, such as films and audio files.
