Course objectives
The students will gain fundamental knowledge of measuring and diagnostics of data networks.
Syllabus
  • 1. Categorization of measuring and diagnostics devices.
    2. Methodology and performing of certifications measurements.
    3. Creation and processing of measurements protocols.
    4. Measurements and diagnostics of optical data networks (singlemode, multimode).
    5. Measurements and diagnostics of wired data networks.
    6. Measurements and diagnostics of WiFi networks.
    7. Diagnostics of connected active network devices, analysis of active devices and
    datagrams.
    8. Remote administration and monitoring of data networks.
    9. Analysis and diagnostics of local networks IEEE 802.x
    10. Analysis of network traffic.
    11. Measurement of throughput and delay in data networks.
    12. Attenuation, bending losses, dissipation, absorption, calculation of total attenuation,
    methods of measuring of attenuation.
    13. Mode and chromatic dispersion, modes, causes of dispersion and its reduction.
    14. Transfer speed and width of band, relation between dispersion and the band's broad.
    15. Practical measurement and data network diagnostic.
