  • 1. Presentations and explanations. (effective presentation, explanations and instructions)
    2. Practice activities. (characteristics of effective practice activities, practice techniques, kind of exercises, giving assignment, sequencing)
    3. Testing. (reasons for testing, kinds of tests, elicitation techniques, preparing and assessing a test)
    4. Teaching pronunciation. (what does pronunciation involve, improving learner's pronunciation, presentation, practice and testing)
    5. Teaching vocabulary. (what needs to be taught, remembering vocabulary, presentation, practice and testing)
    6. Teaching grammar. (grammatical structures, grammatical meaning, overt and covert grammar, presentation, practice and testing)
    7. Teaching listening. (what does real/life listening involve, learner difficulties, stages of listening activities, presentation, practice and testing)
    8. Teaching speaking. (problems with speaking activities, fluency and accuracy based exercises, presentation, practice and testing)
    9. Teaching reading. (types of reading, efficient and inefficient reading, stages of reading activities, presentation, practice and testing)
    10. Teaching writing. (written versus spoken text, presentation, practice and testing)
    11. Coursebook. (advantages and disadvantages of using a coursebook, qualities of a textbook, choosing a textbook)
    12. Audio-visual aids. (Kinds and usage of audio-visual aids - black board, pictures, worksheets, work card, OHP, cassette player versus CD player, video, PC etc)
    13. Course content - the syllabus and educational framework. (what is syllabus, types of syllabi, from RVP to + ŠVP, key competences and cross-curricular topics in English, expected output)
    14. Course content - non-linguistic content. (types of non-linguistic content and methods of teaching them)
    15. Lesson planning and preparation. (preparing a lesson plan, ways of varying a lesson, ordering components of a lesson)
    16. Classroom interaction. (classroom interaction types, their usage, advantages and disadvantages, questioning - reasons for questioning, effective questioning)
    17. Giving feedback. (kinds of assessment, mistake versus error, fluency versus accuracy, ways of correcting and assessing language skills)
    18. Teacher development - practice and reflection. (various ways of teacher development)
    19. The New "Maturita" Exam. (structure of the exam, structure and level of the foreign language exam, its parts and assessment)
    20. Common European Framework of Reference (the function and principles of CEFR, terminology, context of using language, levels and descriptors)
