Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course introduces the ways of presentation of movable and immovable cultural heritage, which is a key value of cultural tourism and its attractiveness. Students are explained the concepts of cultural (cultural-historical) heritage, tangible, intangible cultural assets, education and presentation; they will learn to distinguish basic presentation techniques (exposition, exhibition, gallery exhibition, diorama, exterior installations) with regard to the character and specifics of the institution (museum, installed building, archeopark, open-air museum, etc.); get acquainted with the possibilities of their use in the practice of specific cultural institutions. They will get to know the basic educational tools usable in the presentation of cultural heritage. They will understand the ways of their creation and the connection to the framework educational programs. In this context, they will get acquainted with the issues of PR programs and work with the public (lectures, workshops, guided tours), with the creation of teaching programs, their principles, goals and content, with basic educational forms (project and problem-based learning, artefiletics).
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to explain the ways of presentation of movable and immovable cultural heritage.
Syllabus
  • 1. Definition of basic terms cultural goods, collection objects, exhibitions and expositions, exhibits, education, presentations.
    2. Presentation techniques in museum and gallery practice 3. Creating exhibitions and panel presentations, basic principles of exhibition technology.
    4. Presentation techniques in listed buildings and historical real estate (castles, chateaux).
    5. Presentation techniques in exteriors - archeoparks, open-air museums, adventure parks, nature trails.
    6. Modern technologies in the presentation of cultural heritage 7. Marketing of cultural heritage presentations 8. PR programs and work with the public (lectures, workshops, guided tours) 9. Profiling of visitor groups, specifics of communication with various target groups.
    10. Basic educational forms - project and problem learning, artefiletics, lecturer programs, their principles, goals and contents.
