Course objectives
The aim is to practice the work with hardware and computer networks, especially hardware diagnostics, error detection, monitoring, network diagnostics. Students will look at the typical features and technologies of various devices, identifying component information, assessing and benchmarking, component testing. We also deal with computer networks, including configuration and security procedures for various network devices.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic hardware components: motherboard, processor, memory.
    2. Tools needed for repairs and modifications.
    3. Commonly available software for basic diagnostics, component testing.
    4. Processors: processor recognition, testing, overclocking, underclocking.
    5. Memory modules: properties, installation, latency, testing, overclocking.
    6. Storage: Testing, S.M.A.R.T.
    7. Power supply, power management technology.
    8. Computer networks, network elements.
    9. Network diagnostics, packets capture.
    10. Servers: Windows Server, Linux Server, installation, management.
