Course objectives

The aim of the course is to make the students acquainted with the basics of the OS Windows, its installation, and functioning, the students also will be informed about the administration and installation of HW and SW of the OS Windows. In the lectures the students gain general knowledge of OS.

Learning outcomes

Students will learn the basics of MS Windows, master its installation and understand how it works, they will also get acquainted with the administration and installation of HW and SW for this OS.
Students will gain general knowledge of operating systems.

Syllabus

• Lectures will be held in Czech. They structure is as follows:
  harakteristiky operačních systémů. Zavedení operačního systému při startu počítače (POST, ROM SCAN). Operační systémy diskové a nediskové. Vlastnosti OS: přenositelnost, souběžné zpracování a modulárnost, bezpečnost OS. Struktura operačního systému: jádro OS, správce procesů, správce paměti, správce V/V, správce souborů, ovladače zařízení, řídící program. Uživatelský a privilegovaný režim OS, procesy a podprocesy. Jádro OS: rozvrhování a přidělování podprocesů, obsluha výjimek a přerušení, nastavení priority. Význam Shell OS. Klasifikace OS. Technická podpora OS. Modely OS. Paralelní procesy. Multitasking a Hypertrading.
  Operační systém Windows 8/7/XP/NT. Architektura OS. Vlastnosti systému Windows a jeho použití. Správa paměti, využití procesoru (multiprocesing). Správa disku, mirroring, sdílení (FAT, FAT32, NTFS). Tvorba uživatelů a jejich uživatelských profilů. Instalace a údržba systému Windows (scandisk, defragmentace, monitorování systému). Nastavení HW prostředků a podpora PNP (video, síťové karty, modemy atd.), I/O, přerušení, DMA. Jádro (HAL) a subsystémy (Win64, Win32, Dos)
  Obsah praktik
  Operační systém Windows XP a Windows 7 a 8. Instalace, konfigurace a údržba. Nastavení síťových a hardwarových prostředků, práce s PNP. Upgrade na Windows 7. Obslužné a podpůrné programy. Instalace HW. Základní obsluha a příkazy OS. Srovnání vlastností operačních systémů Windows XP/7/8. Instalace a používání 16 bitových aplikací a programů MS-DOS pod Windows. Registry. Zástupci. Skripty. Práce starších programů Windows pod systémem Windows. Multiboot. Programy pro multiboot a jejich instalace a konfigurace. Programy pro správu disků.

Teacher's information

To handle the basic knowledge of OS Windows and general knowledge of the field of operation systems. Credit requirements: 80% attendance in the seminars, active participation, installation and configuration of selected OS, minimum 50% of the score of the final written test. Exam requirements: minimum 50% of the score of the final written exam.
