- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- Course English Language II. builds on the course English Language I. and its aim is to further develop students' already acquired knowledge. Emphasis is placed on the grammar-lexical aspect of the language and the harmonious development of all four language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking) so that students can communicate comprehensively and grammatically in everyday situations, both verbally and in writing, at a given language level. The topics covered reflect the three and four recommended lessons literature. These topics will be expanded to include additional materials reflecting the specific needs of students in order to deepen their knowledge of English speaking countries in Europe and the world and to reinforce awareness of the existence of different cultures and societies in the contemporary multicultural world. The course is completed by a credit from the taught curriculum. The output level of the course corresponds to the B1 + level and the aim of the whole series of English language courses I. - V. is for students to achieve the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

- Students will be able to:
- communicate comprehensively and grammatically correctly in common situations, both verbally and in writing, at the given language level. - Syllabus
- 1. The generation gap (stages of life and what typical features we associate them with)
- 2. Past tenses (past simple, past continuous, used to, irregular verbs)
- 3. Events in My Life (-ed endings and sentence rhythm)
- 4. Headlines and news stories (working out meaning from context)
- 5. In the picture (photography vocabulary: describing a photo, taking photos, prepositions)
- 6. Writing an article (“Tips for taking great portrait photos“ – planning the content, thinking of a heading)
- 7. Practical English: (social English phrases for describing and renting a car)
- 8. Rubbish and recycling (rubbish and recycling nouns and phrasal verbs, kinds of packaging, the prefix -re)
- 9. Mobile phone recycling (future forms will / shall and going to, present continuous for future arrangements)
- 10. Degrees and careers (study and work vocabulary: higher education, applying for a job or course, useful phrases)
- 11. Part-time jobs and jobs abroad (first and second conditionals)
- 12. Revision (grammar and vocabulary of Unit 3 and 4, “A New York sanitation worker” – watching a short film)

- The course is completed by an examination, which is obtained by active participation in seminars, homework and written test of the curriculum (70% success rate). Compulsory attendance at seminars is min. 75%.
