Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
A student obtains knowledge about data analysis and basic information from probability theory importatnt for the analysis in this subject. Descriptive statistics of data in a data file is described and also mechanisms of inference statistics, which are necessary to know how to get features of whole population from the data about sample. Also basics of correlation and regression analysis as essential tools of exploring relations between variables in data are dealt. Time series and central limit theorems are introduced.
Learning outcomes
Student will have basic knowledge from field of statistics, what is it, what is it for, which methods are using in this field. He/She will be able to apply knowledge.

  • 1. Basic terms of statistics.
  • 2. Descriptive statistics.
  • 3.-4. Basics of probability theory. Random variable. Relationship of two random variables.
  • 5.-7. Inference statistics. Statistical estimates. Statistical hypothesis testing.
  • 8. Other statistical tests.
  • 9. Correlation analysis.
  • 10. Regression analysis.
  • 11. Time series.
  • 12. Central limit theorems.
  • 13. Revision.

Assessment methods
Attendance – a full time study: To attend the lectures is recomended. Seminars are obligatory.
Attendance – a part time study: Lectures are obligatory.
Credit test and also exam test are written. A student have to reach fifty percent assesment minimally.
