Course objectives
The course is focused on the systematic and comprehensive development of language competence and on the practical application of communicative skills for intermediate speakers of English (level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference). Students will consolidate and deepen their knowledge of English grammar, expand their vocabulary and practice pronunciation. Emphasis will be placed on listening and speaking.
Learning outcomes
The students will learn to deal with difficult situations where problems need to be solved, to argue and ask other students specific questions. will enlarge their vocabulary and grammar skills
Syllabus
  • 1. Verb completation: Verbs, objects and complements; Vocabulary study: Society and institutions
  • 2. Verb completation: Verb + two objects, verbs + -ing forms and infinitives; Vocabulary study: idioms (society, daily life)
  • 3. Reporting: tense choice in reporting; Vocabulary study: The media
  • 4. Reporting: reporting offers, suggestions, orders, intentions, etc.; Vocabulary study: Films, plays and books
  • 5. Reporting: modal verbs in reporting
  • 6. Nouns: Agreement between subject and verb; Vocabulary study: Health
  • 7. Nouns: Compound nouns and noun phrases; Vocabulary study: idioms (parts of the boy)
  • 8. Articles, determiners and quantifiers: A/an, and zero article; Vocabulary study: Technology
  • 9. Articles, determiners and quantifiers: Much, many, whole, every, few, little, etc.; Vocabulary study: idioms (games)
  • 10. Articles, determiners and quantifiers: Some and any; No, none, and not any; Vocabulary study: Time
  • 11. Relative clauses and other types of clause: Relative pronouns, prepositions in relative clauses; Vocabulary study: idioms (feelings)
  • 12. Relative clauses and other types of clause: Participle clauses with adverbial meaning; Vocabulary study: Space, motion, manner
