Seminář je zaměřen na praktické problémy překladu z němčiny do češtiny a z češtiny do němčiny, přičemž se zabývá zejména gramatickými zvláštnostmi obou jazyků a jejich promítnutím do překladu (např. německé pasívum, nominální a infinitivní konstrukce, opisy s modálními slovesy, kategorie času a vidu, funkční větná perspektiva, užívání členů apod.), překladatelské cvičení z praktického pohledu přibližuje studentům zásady práce se slovníky, seznamuje je s terminologickými specifiky textů s politickou a hospodářskou tématikou, jež tvoří těžiště práce. Posluchači budou seznamováni se základními příručkami, časopisy a databázemi, v nichž mohou hledat informace o terminologii a sestaví základní terminologický glosář.
